'He hated me for months': Cat That Has Been Abandoned in Its Carrier Gets Rescued by Kind Hooman and Finally, Months Later, Starts Showing Him Love

We could never understand people who abandon their cats. Sure, sometimes, cats and people don't get along, and maybe yours is not the house this kitty was meant to be in. But to abandon it? On the street? Alone? Unacceptable. There are so many other solutions. You could find the cat a new family, or you could bring it to a shelter. Anything except leaving it in a carrier outside - confused, alone and terrified - and hoping that someone will just pop up and pick them up.

Sadly, that's exactly what happened in today's story. This adorable cat was abandoned by its previous owners. It is sheer luck - or maybe the Cat Distribution System performed some of its magic - that sent these wonderful people to save this cat. As angry as we are about the people who abandoned this precious kitty, we are a million times more thankful to the ones who rescued it and worked so hard and for so long to gain its trust.

    First of all, the people who abandoned him should be ashamed. No note, no nothing, just leaving the poor thing out there in the world in its carrier, hoping that what- someone would pick him up? It's a miracle that someone did, and that they are as kind as they are.

    groceries and I saw a beautiful blue eyes cat in its carrier off to the side. Someone just left it. I went and bought food but it won't even eat. Just keeps meowing. This poor soul. Is anyone able to help or pick this baby up?

    And second of all, months is nothing in this situation. Cats whose trust in humans has been so painfully broken could take years to warm up to someone. It's a testament to how sweet the cat is and how great his new owners are that it happened this quickly.

    rockthrowing • 1d ago • Did you see if he was chipped?? It's possible he was the victim/collateral damage of a DV situation. It's not uncommon for the abuser to dump a beloved pet like this as punishment. Either way, I'm glad you've been able to take good care of him and he's warming up to you. Poor kitty. Congrats on your hard work!!!

    Imaotorii OP • 23h ago • We were never able to to touch him or come close to him at all once we got him out of his carrier. He was very aggressive and we didn't know anyone with a personal scanner so now that he is a little more friendly we will get him scanned asap

    fallenredwoods • 1d ago. Good on you OP. I swear, the bigger the a hole a cat is the bigger the lover they eventually become. My cat had to be pet with leather gloves because he was feral and now he doesn't ever bite, scratch or anything bad and just wants affection and to show off 2.1K > Reply

You have gained his tiny trust and I hope things continue to go up from there I believe that most "mean" cats are traumatized. Imagine going through something as awful and sad as abandonment, not understanding what it is, and not having the words to get help, tell anyone what happened, or let anyone know how you feel. So glad you rescued him ☐

    Beautiful_Reporter50 1d ago • My cat is eight and apparently she had a dreadful childhood because she stalked us, scratched us, we couldn't pet her or hold her cuddle her, And I haven't been able to brush her until this year and she is a gorgeous long-haired cat. I have more scars on my hands If you keep up with your love, eventually they will turn around and be your best cat!
