A woman called the cops on me tonight because I refused to give her a refund. I work at a Spirit Halloween, literally less than an hour before I permanently close my store for the season a

what was wrong with the costume, as I usually am happy to do a refund against policy for something legitimately defective but... Nothing was wrong with it. She had

got ped off, started calling me names and telling me I was terrible at my job, then said that I was stealing from her and that she was going to call the police. I laughed in her face, because clearly she had no ground to stand on.

She actually called 911 and wasted emergency dispatch time for this sh. The cops showed up, I told them what had happened when they came in to ask, and they immediately took her outside and had to

spend the next 10 minutes trying to explain why she cannot call 911 for a retail dispute, that I am not stealing from her, and that she is not entitled to a refund against company policy. So annoying.

d84doc Should've told her you were closing in less than an hour but if she comes back anytime after today you'd totally help her out.

Noizyninjaz If it makes you feel better, I work at a large theme park. People dial 911 when the ride goes down for 5 minutes. It happens all the time.

LookAway Please510 It's super sus that she bought the costume before Halloween and brought it back after. I doubt there's a 17 year old kid. I wish that when people called the police for things like that, they would have to spend one night in jail for wasting their time, or obstruction of justice.

Sioux-me The most shocking part of this story is that the cops showed up. Last-Laugh7928 when she called she probably said that someone robbed her or something, not "the cashier won't give me a refund"

s decoy OP Yes, I heard her on the phone telling them that I "stole" from her. The cops also mentioned when they showed up that they had JUST responded to a very similar incident down the street.

glitter avy7 It's crazy how some people will go to extremes over a simple refund issue, but you handled it well by sticking to the policy
