Many mother-in-laws want to take a hands-on approach with special events in their daughter-in-laws' lives. Though their intentions might be pure, they often get exceptionally pushy and tend to do things the way they desire rather than taking others' desires into account.
Sometimes, some MILs do not have the purest intentions—you can usually tell the difference. When you decide to voice your own opinion on a wedding venue, they start guilt-tripping you about how they were "just trying to help" and they "wanted it to be special."
