They have been cutting hours for months now to attempt to keep production high per stylist but since I didn't "meet full time hours" (they consider 32 full time) then I have to sign this p.o.S. On my first day back.

I have called out of a handful of shifts this year. Literally 5, because I burned my foot with hot oil and couldn't work with the blister. And I made those shifts up in a month too mind you.

I want to work, and if they hadn't been sending people home early all summer then I wouldn't have to worry about this sh but here we are.

theloslonely.joe Just say no. No way. No how. Never ever under any conditions agree to have your pay docked or punished if you don't meet arbitrary rules. You said yourself they have been cutting hours left and right. They are going to use this document to say you are not meeting the requirements, let you go, and then deny you pay.

Analysis No4295 This is a fantastic way for companies to contractually withhold your last paycheck. Completely agree. Please do not sign this. If you have, then please put in your two weeks and expect to get the smallest check ever as your last, or none at all.

RA12220 Should be on letterhead if this was official. Looks like it was drawn up in a 9th grade class onetruesaiyan OP I'm pretty sure she typed it up herself at the direction of the franchise owner

RA12220 If this is a franchise then I wonder what HQ thinks about this. I wonder what their legal department thinks and if there's any possibility of liability to them or if it's just the franchise owner.
  • 12
onetruesaiyan OP Ya know what, I didn't think about bringing it higher up. There is a standard that they have to keep, at least aesthetically. Ima look into reaching HQ cause I gotta be honest, this doesn't sound like it should be allowed

srslydudewtf Literally waiting for a lawsuit to happen. That's the main threat - being unable to survive between losing your job now, and getting a new job while waiting to get paid some fraction of what you should be owed.

Faye Delights As a stylist who works primarily in chain salons, why is this screaming Worked for a GC to me franchisee whose area manager tried to fuss about a FREE trip to Vegas cause it was right around thanksgiving. Thank god my manager and I were cool. Absolutely don't sign, and DIG into that handbook.

capt-on-enterprise Tell them you have to get your attorney to discuss this in person. Do not sign it. Check on federal and state employment laws. This sounds shady on multiple levels
