Woman Refuses to Spend Another Joint Holiday with Husband’s Ex, Gets Blamed When Stepdaughter Agrees

The holidays are a time for cozy gatherings, delicious food, and reconnecting with family… unless you're navigating the awkward dynamics of a blended family. For many, the season becomes a logistical nightmare, especially when divorced parents insist on maintaining traditions "for the kids." With today's high divorce rates, it's common for kids to bounce between two homes, or worse, sit through strained dinners with both parents awkwardly present.

But what happens when you're dating—or married to—someone with this setup? For one woman, spending every Thanksgiving and Christmas with her husband's ex-wife has become a dreaded tradition. What was once "for the sake of the child" has stretched into adulthood, even though the now 19-year-old stepdaughter isn't thrilled about it either.

When the stepmom gently encouraged her stepdaughter to express her feelings, all holiday heck broke loose. The ex-wife accused her of meddling, and her husband is walking a fine line between loyalty and keeping the peace. Awkward doesn't even begin to cover it.
