Bride Opts to Walk Herself Down the Aisle to Honor Late Father, Mom Calls It Selfish and Insists Her Boyfriend of 6 Years Deserves It

Planning a wedding means juggling everyone's expectations, from your mom's dream guest list to your dad's emotional tributes to your bestie's insistence on glittery bridesmaid dresses. The pressure to include everyone in your big day can be overwhelming (and don't even get us started on how fast the costs pile up). Suddenly, it's less about you and your partner and more about pleasing everyone else.

For one bride-to-be, that pressure came in the form of her mom's boyfriend demanding to walk her down the aisle. It's already an emotional moment, but when you're trying to honor your late dad and maintain your independence, navigating those waters gets tricky. And yet, her mom insists her boyfriend of six years has "earned" the right to walk her down the aisle. At the end of the day, a wedding is about the couple, not a family feud. Shouldn't the bride get to decide what feels right for her? Apparently, this mom doesn't think so.
