Some class rules are meant to be challenged. In this day and age, it's simply most convenient for students to take notes on their laptops. While of course, we understand the concern teachers may have about playing games, texting, or online shopping, the truth of the matter is that if students aren't going to pay attention, that will be their loss both in the short and long term.
Forbidding all students from using their laptops in class because of a few students who cannot help but misbehave is simply unfair to everyone else. Typing is the best way to keep up with everything a teacher is covering. This Redditor decided to challenge the rule by bringing a typewriter in class. After all, she did not require students to annotate by hand; she simply required that they leave their laptops at home. After a while, the noisy sound of the typewriter in class only proved how ridiculous this policy was in the first place, and after seven days, students were suddenly allowed to bring their laptops in again. Kudos to this guy for proving his point!
