‘He remembered me’: Woman Gets Her Cat Back From Her Toxic Ex-boyfriend, and Even After 7 Years, He Recognizes Her and Is So Happy to Be With Her

There is nothing quite like cat reunions. Obviously, losing a cat is one of the worst feelings in the world - both for the owner and for the cat - and we are heartbroken for everyone whose cat has not come back to them. But the ones who did… the joy in those stories and moments is unmatched. And it doesn't matter if it's a cat reuniting with its owner after a long time apart, or a cat reuniting with her kittens after being separated, or a cat reuniting with its brother after getting rescued, it's always heartwarming. It's always something to be thankful for. 

And we are truly so thankful for the woman in this story who, even after everything that she went through, did not forget about her cat and truly did everything that she possibly could have to get him back and make sure that he is where he is supposed to be.

    Whatever you're thinking this story is going to be, we promise you that it is way more gut-wrenching. You think that this is just going to be another reunion post, and yes, a reunion after seven years would be amazing in and of itself, but it's even more incredible considering the context.

    The woman who got this kitty back is a hero. Plain and simple. For everything that she has been through and survived and for getting the kitty back. Because after so long, we don't know how many people would have dropped everything to go get their cat back. But she did. And we are so thankful.

    Nine years ago, I found Herschel in the street as a tiny kitten. I took him in and we formed an amazing bond. Two years later, I had to escape an abusive relationship because I feared for my life. I was moving to a different continent, and my living situation was uncertain, so I left Herschel with a friend. Unfortunately, before I was able to get him back, my ex got him. Ever since then I've been wishing and hoping for an opportunity to get him.

    I have a nice house now and all the means to take care of him. I had almost accepted it wasn't going to happen, and then the opportunity presented itself when my ex went to jail. I immediately got on a plane to get my baby back. He was living in bad conditions in the disgustingly messy and dangerous apartment my ex left. He remembered me, and after the initial shock of seeing me again, our bond is strong as ever and he's happy and healthy.
