What Would Hunter X Hunter's Gon and Killua Look Like With the Color Schemes of Other Animated Iconic Duos?
Welcome, anime fans and stans! Making an iconic character design is not that easy. For the design to be memorable, you have to first think in terms of shapes. Do you remember the 'Who's That Pokémon?' segment that would come up between episodes? Being able to recognize a character by its outline is not just an impressive feat on the part of the viewer, it is the mark of a great design.
Next, comes the color scheme. Colors need to reflect something about the character. For example, in Naruto, our protagonist of the same name is goofy and energetic, thus he sports a bright orange jumpsuit and has blue eyes and blonde hair that make him stand out. His frenemy Sasuke, dark and brooding, has spiky dark hair, eyes, and clothes to match his personality.
So, what if we switched those palettes around? How would you perceive your beloved anime characters if they were colored differently? Reddit user u/anime_fanime went further than any curious anime fan should go. He colored Hunter X Hunter's Gon and Killua with the color schemes of other iconic duos in television— from One Piece's Luffy and Zoro, to Sesame Street's Bert and Ernie. Scroll down and see if you can guess which characters' color schemes were used for each picture.
