If there's one thing folks in the workforce should not play about, it's their PTO. Time off is essential to maintaining a work/life balance, and without that, you might as well be a corporate automaton. Paid time off allows folks who work day and night to take a much-needed break without sacrificing their equally much-needed income.
Many companies offer 10-30+ PTO days a year, some even go so far as having unlimited (but not really). The company the original poster (OP) of this story works at offers 5 striking PTO days a year after an employee hits their 1-year mark. The OP handed in their resignation notice after submitting a PTO request for a few days this month because of a wedding, but their boss backtracked on the company's former PTO policy. Instead of having 5 PTO days as mentioned in the OP's offer letter, they only have 1.5 days (after a year and a half of employment).
