We're in the midst of the summer. The humid, sticky, boiling-hot weather has been exhausting our bodies to a different level. Why can't we be in the Bahamas, floating gracefully on glacier-blue waters and eating fresh fruits? The bills have to get paid! If you're one of the lucky employees with an unlimited PTO policy, or you've accrued an ungodly amount of PTO in your time at your company, maybe it's time to wind down and get some me-time in. We're almost at the end of July, and what do you have to show for it? A weird sock tan line, probably.
Though it sounds nice to take a little vacation in the heat of the summer, bosses seem to enjoy acting like not using PTO makes you a better person. Wanna know what makes us better people? Giving ourselves long breaks every so often because employee burnout is real. Heck, we'd probably be nicer to our co-workers if we had a balance between work and personal time. That is to say: take that trip, wear that swimsuit, do that cannonball into the water. You only live once, and you should live for yourself! Bon voyage, folks.
