You do not want to mess with this dude's mother. Honestly, there are lessons we all can learn from her.
Typically here at FAIL Blog, we tend to side with customer service representatives when it comes to the conflicts they have to endure and confront on the job. However, in this case, the Redditor's mother had been dealing with the aftereffects of a serious house fire and simply wanted to cancel the appliance service plan she was using as her home was now uninhabitable for the next several months. The representative showed no remorse and refused to grant an exception given the serious circumstances the Redditor's mother was working through at that time. Luckily, she had a plan, threatening to file a claim to have all her appliances replaced immediately. This would, of course, cause a ton of money and labor on the part of the company. That's when the representative got their manager on the phone, and the two were able to work out a deal.
