tumblr babe @trapezoidmouth My mom's tenants don't even know that for the past 7 years they've been renting from us we've been setting a portion aside to give both their daughters for school when they move out

Prashant @prashant_nic Replying to @trapezoidmouth That's incredibly thoughtful and generous. You and your mom are doing something so special without any expectation of recognition. Setting aside money for their daughters' education shows real care and long-term investment in their future. It's rare to find that level of kindness and selflessness, and I'm sure it'll mean the world to them when the time comes. It might not always be acknowledged, but the impact will definitely be felt.

tmoniiyoungbless ❤ @youngblesstmoni Replying to @trapezoidmouth Give, and it will be given to you.' Your mom's heart to invest in others will surely yield blessings for generations to come. What an amazing testimony.

male tradwife @Gingerroot775 Replying to @trapezoidmouth Simply charge them less rent? Why do you assume you know how to manage their money better than they do?

blm @fkyofeelings04 Replying to @trapezoidmouth How can we bless you and Mom? I wish I could send you the BIGGEST hugs ever. This is beautiful and definitely made me cry tears of joy.

Ali B @wtflanksteak Yeah, I'm sorry - this is so patronizing and honestly paternalistic. Just charge them less for rent and give them their money back NOW. I would be shaking if I was this tenant.
  • 09
ta⭑kara? MET colde @inthe_colde and is the plan if they move out before their daughters get to college bc they can't afford the rent your mother charges
  • 10
Jay Jones@coppinPhilz Y'all are unhinged. You do realize they don't have to give them sh back? Being indignant about paying rent you agreed to pay is insanity. Their rent could already be low for all we know, if they've been there for seven years
  • 11
Mackage Parlay Dior Op... @unrealisticjoy they calling her a saint for giving them their money back
  • 12
samboo @sambeedragon so you've been charging them more than you should for 7 years. so you've been taking their money. because...what? you don't think they have a fun for their daughters education? you're making their life worse to make urself feel good and u should feel disgusting.

tyte @TheTechBarbie This is why I really choose not to share anything. Social media makes it seem like we know all the details and we don't. Her mom is doing a great gesture and everyone's assumes she's a greedy landlord
  • 14
la vergation ▼@cowboyparable I had this huuuuuuuge fight this year and lost a bunch of my oldest friends over calling out this sort of insane behavior from one friend who was renting to another. exploitation is an objective material relationship but because it's legal people don't realize it's antisocial.

Kay @kayywegetit a comment section full of landlords talking about giving the money their tenants already earned back to them as their good deed of the year. they aren't children who need help saving money; they're adults who are struggling directly because of you
  • 16
Porge @itsporge Hoarding a lump sum of excess rent to bestow upon the poors after 7 years is both extremely patronising AND contrary to the most basic financial advice about prudent investment
  • 17
Jett @RoadK1llPunkie I hate this tweet so much -bragging about "charity" for clout -why can't you just charge them less rent then? -do you think the doors can't save their own money? Just so patronizing and terrible but I doubt they aren't just making this up for cloud anyways
  • 18
paula not a girl→ @guillotiinebaby If you are setting aside a portion of the rent in order to give it back to them it actually means you've been overcharging them for rent for the past 7 years It doesn't make you nice charge them the fair amount and let them choose what to do with their own money
  • 19
DSteez510 @DSteez510 Would it be to point out that you could just charge them less for rent?
  • 20
flaviusvalens @flaviusvalens1 Every month I charge each tenant an extra shilling for the right to live upon my estate, but in 10 years time I shall pay for the likeliest lad in the village to attend Oxford, unless he di of a chance fever OR show himself right pert by refusing to doff his cap to me humbly

jaldy @jaldy Annoying law student here - since there is no agreement between the parties, the tenants are not protected by contract law. If they ever off the landlord they have no recourse and get nothing!!!! This is not a gesture of kindness - it is purely one of power
  • 22
A Bella @placebo being Why are the comments treating this like something heartwarming? Overcharging the poor for rent so the benevolent landlord can manage their finances and pay it back later when she could just lower their rent now. Who is she to decide where their money goes?
  • 23
my mask is endemic @chaitrovert imagine your landlord doing this while you can't afford a $600 emergency
