‘Alright, well, I’m going to go ahead and leave then’: Woman quits on the spot after reaching her limit with the ‘high school environment' in her workplace

Remember high school? When the "popular" girls would make fun of you because you didn't get the memo for something stupid, like they all agreed to wear a hat on Monday? It's just like in mean girls when they always wore pink on Wednesdays. That is some very emotionally immature behavior. Usually, teenagers grow out of that immature phase (which is usually cause by something else happening in that kid's life, but we won't get into that). Being an adolescent isn't easy. You're going through all these changes physically and mentally, plus you have to start facing life as more of an adult—it's no surprise some kids don't handle it as well and take it out on their cohorts at school. But once high school is over and these teens grow into adults, gain more empathy and learn more lessons, etc., this behavior has to stop.

Unfortunately, it would appear, that some teens do not grow out of this phase. In fact, it would appear many adults who lead with entitlement still act like these messed up teenagers. That means many of us end up having co-workers like Regina George from Mean Girls, but as adults and IRL. It's absolutely ridiculous. This woman, however, has figured out exactly what to do when your co-workers turn out to be emotionally immature "mean girls" who are full-grown adults….

Her great one trick in this scenario?! Quit. That's right, just walk away. Do not waste anymore of your precious time with these horrid coworkers. Why should you? You are a full-grown adult and you know how to act like one. Unless your job is to babysit these immature adults, don't spend another second there.
In this woman's case, her final straw was her co-workers not inviting her to clean the office. We know, but hear her out…

This wasn't the first instance of her co-workers being petty. Just because she didn't want to spend money on an outside-of-work (that means she would not be getting paid to do this activity) because she and her husband are trying to save to buy a house, she gets ghosted. That is some seriously immature behavior. But she was an adult and did an adult next step: She quit. Because real life actions cause real life consequences, which most people learn in high school, but not everyone. So, sometimes, you have to teach this lesson to full-grown adults in the workplace.
