Millionaire man loses his precious dog, then spends his entire fortune to create a heartwarming sanctuary for strays, saving thousands of dogs from mistreatment and slaughterhouses

What would you do if you had one million dollars, animal fam? We don't even want to think about it because we might never have one million dollars, but if we did, we would probably use it to pay off our student debt, help pay off any of our parents' debt, and then…who knows? We would probably quit our job, buy a farm somewhere, and live in nature surrounded by animals to love and cuddle with. Doesn't that sound just paw-mazing?

Well, after losing his dog one day, a Chinese man (who just so happened to be a millionaire), he did just that. He searched high and low for his doggo, and unfortunately, he didn't find his dog, but he did find horrors amongst the lives of street dogs. He then went on a mission to create a heartwarming sanctuary for strays, saving thousands of local dogs from mistreatment and slaughterhouses. He literally spent his entire fortune on this.     Yan thus realised how dogs are treated in China, and embarked on a mission: save as many dogs as he could. In 2012, he invested all his holdings to buy an abandoned slaughterhouse and turn it into a shelter for stray dogs, the "Changchun Animal Rescue Base".

    Ever since the shelter has been established, Yan rescued over 2,000 dogs, otherwise destined to the slaughterhouse. "There are 215 dogs at the base now, mostly came from the slaughterhouses, saved by volunteers and brought here," he said.
