Remember when all of us would draw really detailed eyes on our math packets during 6th-grade algebra? Well, some of us never stopped. The role of the artist is an incredibly important one. Artists help us to see our world in a different way, allow us to dream up new ideas and concepts, and reflect our surroundings back to us. 

Though the life of an artist is not an easy one. It can be hard to channel the muse sometimes, the fickle mistress she is. And the world is not always as receptive to our art as we would hope for them to be. Sometimes we can work so hard on something and we think everything is going to open up for us, and then we get 10 likes on Instagram. Such is life when you're an artist in the 21st century. But the joy of making something is a reward in itself, or at least that's what they want you to think.
