Parenting in January is not easy. You can't just chuck the kids outside for a couple hours so they'll wear themselves out and leave you alone. That is, unless you want them to freeze, or you don't live in a climate where January should be called Hibernation Month. No more taking them to the park when you don't know what to do with them. But on the other hand, at least you're not sticking to your seat with sweat at their little league games, and forcing them to finally take a shower after day 3 of playing outside. 

You might even be lucky enough to get a snow day, which is probably the best moment in a child's life. My mom used to take us outside to make snow ice cream with sweetened condensed milk and take us sledding down the neighborhood hill. As a parent, it's the quickest route to witnessing pure joy in your children.
