‘I’m still absolutely terrified of dogs’: Dog phobic boyfriend furious after girlfriend sneakily adopts colossal canine child and guilt trips him into keeping it, comforting commenters sympathize

While there is no denying that we are doggo-obsessed, we also recognize that there is a time and a place to adopt a doting doggo into your life. If you do not respect those guidelines then you are putting yourself and the potential pupper in much more malice than you intended and that they deserve. And that is the basis for our story today, in which a girlfriend simply could not control herself or spare a thought for her phobic boyfriend who was still getting over the trauma of being attacked by a dog. 

This canine pawrent ended up bringing home the biggest bundle of joy she could find, at least in part, to spite her never-to-be husband for failing to get over his fear of delightful doggos fast enough. Which as anyone who has suffered such trauma knows, is a process that cannot be rushed and that demands understanding and care.

  • While there is no denying that the urge to adopt and adorable pupper is a strong one, and that in principle, no one should ever come between a pawson and their pet. You can completely understand why such an act would make this man upset. Mature relationships require communication, and by going behind his back, this girlfriend has not only broken her boyfriend’s trust, but made potentially irreparable damage to their relationship. If this was her way of trying to get him to break up with her, then she should have been adult about it and done it herself. Instead, she has dragged the sweet soul of a gentle giant doggo into the middle of their melodramatic madness.

  • Tis truly heartwarming when a random stranger on the internet has your back and understands exactly where you are coming from. It is a connection that we really do relish as hoomans, and is so rare to find in the IRL world, as evidenced by this poster’s petulant girlfriend.
