'I guess I have a cat now': Person brings a cat home for a quick TNR, but the warm feline refuses to leave his new comfy bed, so the human is left with no choice but to adopt him

We, as cat people, try to help as many cats as we can. We have our own cats, of course, but if we come across a cat in need on the street, even if we know that we won't be able to adopt it ourselves, we still bring it in. We foster it until we find it the furrever home that it deserves. Usually. Usually, that's how it happens. Other times, the cats have their own plans. Don't you know the saying "man plans and cats laugh"? It's true. And that's how foster fails happen. It's how you end up with… way more cats than you planned on having. 

And it's what happened here. This person never intended to adopt the kitty that they rescued. They just wanted to bring it in for a quick trap-neuter-return to help them out in their life, but once the kitty was there, in the warmth, surrounded by comfy beds and blankets, it did not want to leave again. And so the human was left with no choice but to adopt him.

  • Hey, can you even blame him? It's so much nicer and comfier and warmer inside. It's a known fact that cats domesticated themselves. Just because it's way more fun to be spoiled than to have to hunt for food and look for shelter all the time. And he's no different.

  • Pretty much, yeah. We would have done the exact same thing had we been in his position. Some things are just better, and even cats know that. Especially cats. They love to be pampered. And we love pampering them. It's a match made in heaven.

    sadcrocodile I like to think that some cats that get adopted go 'whoa ? This is so soft and comfy!' when encountering bedding and furniture for the first time. Soft blankets, sofas and pillows must feel so comfortable after sleeping on mostly hard surfaces outdoors. Oh man and heated blankets! My friend and his wife had to buy another one after their cats decided the heated blanket was theirs now.

    That's how I got this girl here. I had been feeding her for some time and I got her spayed 4 years ago she recovered in my house but when it was time to go I opened the door and told her she could leave. She looked at me hopped on my Bed and demanded treats. I was so happy.
