'Quit being such a big baby, it was just a joke': Sister gets even with ex-fiancé 32 years later by gifting him a box full of mice

Sometimes, the best forms of payback take years to pull off. It's so easy to immediately begin hatching plans for revenge after you've been wronged, but let this story serve as proof that it's worth it to take a step back and think about the long game.

One element of this story that transcends the concept of vengeance is the manipulation at play in the relationship at the center of this tale. In every romantic partnership, there is a certain degree of vulnerability that should never be used against one another. When one partner confesses their concerns, fears, and worries to the other, they typically expect that those vulnerable moments are protected and kept sacred in the relationship. One should never make their partner regret sharing those secrets and one should never seek to use that privileged information against their partner during conflict or, in this case, simply to get a rise out of them.

    The way the mansion worked, is that there was typically only one person who held the lease, and s/he would sublet all the other rooms. As one leasor moved out, they would transfer the lease to whoever wanted the responsibility.
