Woman has been feeding the local crow family for years, they repay her kindness by saving her kitten from a fox: 'My crows knew Tater was about to get snatched'

Treat animals with kindness, and they will give kindness right back to you. That is something that although we have been told our whole lives, we didn't really understand until later on, until we became animal-obsessed and started petting everything in our path. This is true for dogs, foxes, cats… everything. Feed a stray cat some food, and you may end up adopting it. Help a cat momma out for a moment, and she may bring you her kitten. Give an aloof cat some love and space and respect, and before you know it, that cat will be sitting in your lap for the first time ever. 

Kindness brings more kindness, and that is definitely true for crows too. Crows are smart animals. They remember. They care. They know who the good ones are, and if you are one of the good ones, like the woman in this thread is - if you show crows kindness by feeding them and befriending them, then maybe, just maybe, they will save your kitten one day.

  • Animals 100% come to understand which humans are kind to them and which are not, and that is especially true for crows. They are extremely smart animals. they remember, they care, and they will treat you kindly if you treat them kindly as well.

    I have a loud car and they even follow me halfway to work, they truly look out for me. I have a runt kitty (he's extra smol) who I let play on the porch only when i get home from work around 2 p.m. (he likes to step out on our porch stairs and roll around to bask in the afternoon sun for a few min then runs inside).

  • This was not the first and not the tenth story of crows remembering and protecting the humans/animals that they like, and still, it manages to amaze us every time. Seeing that so many of the comments under this story were other people sharing their own stories of how crows helped them out over time could not have made us any happier.

    Charwyn Crows are often the ultimate bros. Wild crows sometimes choose to "adopt" stray kittens/puppies, protecting them, sharing food with them, etc. it's crazy how weirdly empathetic they sometimes are, especially since usually crows are pretty ruthless creatures.

    Edit: the same family of crows near my house adopted a tiny hungry kitten and had it grown into an adult cat and were playing with it for a year+, meanwhile the same crow family basically executed another cat as an example to all the other cats in the area when said cat tried to hunt one of the fledglings. Crows got some wild stuff going in their brains lol...

    XenonOfArcticus My corvids (crows, magpies and Stellar's Jays) protect our chickens. Full stop. They run off hawks, falcons, foxes and probably other things I've not even noticed. They're the neighborhood aerial mafia. I pay them protection and they keep the place safe.

    mindfluxx Crows do their best to keep all predators off of my (their) block. I've seen them chase coyotes, and predatory birds (falcons hawks and memorably an eagle!). They are brave badasses.

    They made a mean pit bull dog stop charging at me (even though it was leashed it's owner didn't discipline it to stop or sit so they would flap at it to back up) dive bombed a vagrant trying to rob me of my groceries (same birds did it for my sister too against same strung out after her record bag) and the goriest, of tearing up a very large rabid rat coming too close and ignoring I'm using a stick to fling it away if I had to but I didn't.

    They had a meal but I worried if a sick rat could affect them yet they did not di from the encounter/destruction. I'm not sure if any of the current murders are related to that trio
