Maybe it catches you off guard, maybe you were looking for another cat to add to your feline family, or maybe, the CDS helps the cat find you. Either way, each success story from the CDS is worthy of being told because it makes us feel pawsitively heartwarming.

When one kind couple went to Hawaii to tie the knot, they found a homeless void kitten outside of their hotel. They tried to take them to a shelter, but the shelter workers said that no one would take him, so what else are you supposed to do when you find an abandoned kitten?     Two years ago my husband and I went to Hawaii to get married. One night, we saw a bunch of people in the bushes outside the hotel trying to help catch a kitten. No one was successful, but I bought food and left it out. I let the hotel know, but nothing came of it.

    The original plan was to get him to a shelter. I got him checked out by a vet, and was warned that no one would take him. Shelters were full, and since he was a black cat it would be even harder. When we went to PetSmart we saw every single cat there was a void looking for a home. My husband said he was ours now.

  • So let us get this straight - they went to Hawaii to get married, had a great vacation, and came back home with a new cat? That sounds like the vacation of our dreams. It's almost too good to be true. These feline pawrents are living in a Disney movie….and we're totally jealous.

    We originally named him after the hotel, but as you can see with his half a tail, he is clearly a Bobcat. We spent the next two weeks in Hawaii doing tourist things, and since we couldn't leave him in the hotel, Bob joined us. We climbed a mountain with this cat. He was our ringbearer. He went to a luau.

    I panicked trying to figure out how we would get him home. Spent thousands changing our flight (our airport didn't allow animals to fly in, so we had to go somewhere else) and paying fees to take an animal on board.

  • Bob truly is a purrfectly cute cat. Look at those long legs and that sassy stare. We're sure he's very happy to be in his furrever home, and really, what an unfurgettable story this feline family has. Who else can say that they adopted their cat right before getting married, and ended up making him the ring bearer??

    blbd 1d ago • Hawaii has so many stray animals because of the weather and the isolation that they try to give them to people for free sometimes if they can find a way to get them home or they try to get donations of air cargo space to move them back to a continent. The cost of living is really high such that the locals can't always afford to adopt them all.

    Miso is another Hawaii void! We adopted her in 2022 from the shelter, and she was already litter box trained and friendly, though not very cuddly at first.

    Anyways, she's in her forever home and my writing companion! (I have a black cat character in the fantasy novel I'm writing, and that character's mannerisms are somewhat based on Miso's lol) Currently trying to convince my partner we need more voids, but as other commenters said it's so expensive here and space is at a premium :(
