It's probably what they should have done in the beginning - just talk things through. Instead of abruptly uninviting the brother's girlfriend, they could have went into it with a conversation. Expressing what they think, how they've been feeling, and get to the bottom of it all. Instead they did something very strange, but at least everything worked out.

It's great to read stories like this with positivity, where everything works out. It's not everyday that you have a wholesome story of a family drama that actually tied itself into a bow at the end. It's powerful to know the impact of words and kindness.

UPDATE: Groom refuses to invite brother’s girlfriend to wedding, parents step in to mediate, groom and brother have a wholesome heart-to-heart with the internet cheering them on: “You have such a supportive family”
Life, in a way, is really just the stories we tell ourselves. Everything is under our own narrative, and we are the writers of our own stories. Some things we choose and have control over, and most things we have no control over. We certainly can't control people, we can't dictate how they think, act, or see a situation. We only have agency over our own minds and actions, and the predication of our actions and feelings are our thoughts.
When we tell ourselves, "the world is against us," or "they hate me," or "I just lost the love of my life," then these stories become true for us. If we take a step back, and decide to alter our lens, then real magic can happen.
In the story below, the protagonist is a man who decides he doesn't want his brother's girlfriend at his wedding. She's made snide and hurtful comments to him and his fiancée, and they'd rather not deal with it. After the drama of refusing to invite her, he has a real heart to heart with his brother and they come to an understanding.
