This shift in attitudes is something that has made the predicament of being a ‘good’ tourist a pressing issue in the minds of many who like to travel. For some, that doesn't just involve being respectful of new places and the people that live there, but also making the most of every vacation and not taking the privilege for granted.
When a TikToker posted about seeing the cathedral in Berlin just so she didn't feel guilty visiting the international chain clothing store Zara afterwards, certain people took issue with her attitude. They felt that she was not properly appreciative of what it means to take a city break in another country.

There are only so many things that a person can do when they go on holiday, and one individual's idea of how to best spend this finite amount of time is not going to be the same as another's. Nonetheless, surely making the effort to travel somewhere different is going to involve doing some stuff that you would not be doing otherwise.

Tourists visiting places of great cultural interest and/or natural beauty and barely doing any activities related to these benefits is hardly anything new. However, their compulsion to post about it on social media and do their fair share of travel influencing is, comparatively speaking. Using that voice to broadcast that the finer side of tourism doesn't interest you that much when compared with bland mass consumerism is unlikely to land with those who want to see travel content creators appreciating individuality and authenticity. On the other hand, clearly this is the authentic vacation experience for many.
