‘Oops’: Bean-counting manager slashes company travel budget, gets his comeuppance after his own horrendous ‘budget’ business trip ends up costing double in changed flights, sketchy motels, and missed meetings

There's a reason convenient flight times are more expensive. When you're young and spry and traveling on a dime, a 11 PM departure times are worth saving $50 at the airport, but when business meetings are on the line, clients are waiting, and you can't afford to be flexible, it's a worth it to spend a little extra skrilla to avoid a logistical nightmare. This is a lesson that the bean counter at a multi-office traveling corporate manager learned the hard way after having to endure his own policy in real life. 

"Lowest possible fare, lowest possible rate"—when Clint, the new accounting manager, stepped foot into the office, he was prepared to slash travel budgets for all employees forced to fly to their sister office in another city. As many complied with the policy, they quickly realized how inconvenient and ultimately more expensive these little overnight trips became. When you're landing in a new city at midnight and your meeting isn't until 9 AM the next morning, a hotel room is likely going to cost more than you saved on the cheaper flight the next morning.
