60-year-old Mom forbids daughter from cutting her hair her whole childhood, daughter gets even by chopping it all off: 'I honestly felt like Rapunzel'

Every parent has a weird rule that only makes their kid resent them. It's as if this quality is part of the natural order of things.

For me, it was the way in which we were allowed to handle the countertops in our kitchen. My mother was (and still is) unhappy with the granite countertops she went with because she is unable to decipher what is part of the style and what might be leftover crumbs from a snack. So, we had to suffer accordingly and were routinely criticized for the way in which we touched the countertops, ate on the countertops, and turned on the kitchen sink near the countertops. I say this all lovingly. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for this teenager and her relationship with her parents…

  • Imagine not being allowed to ever cut your hair because your mother was forced to cut hers all the time when she was younger. That's right, this lady took her own resentment, projected it onto her kid, and made her daughter feel like Rapunzel for the vast majority of her upbringing. It's no wonder, therefore, that this daughter would want to chop it all off when she had the chance.
