Dog Lovers Come Together in San Diego, Completely Stopping Traffic on the Freeway to Rescue Henry, the Runaway Puppy (VIDEO)

The freeway is a sketchy place. For frequent commuters, day trippers, and truckers alike, we've all seen our fair share of close encounters on the road and the high-speed environment on the big, 5-lane freeways can prove treacherous for any road-goer—especially for this runaway pup dashing down one of the busiest freeways in California.

This little roadster was spotted careening down the freeway shoulder in downtown San Diego, running for his life from the enormous, loud cars and sketchy traffic. Scared and helpless, he fled almost 10 miles north on the freeway, narrowly escaping getting squashed like he was playing real-life Frogger. Then, some kind-hearted civilians stepped up and slowed traffic to a hault, allowing a few random rescuers to scoop up this terrified good boy and take him home to safety.

An employee at the SD Humane Society confirmed that the dog, Henry, was reunited with his owners and has since gone home to his family. Safe and sound.
