  • the desperation in their voice, see it in their face. And I told them I would love to hire you, but you're only going to get like two 4 hour shifts a week. It'll barely pay for gas to get here. You deserve better and taking this job would hurt you more than it would help you. I never sugarcoated it for them.

  • As far as hours go, I went through the same thing at another job. The trick I learned, was calling the same number people call, to call out sick. Except I'd call in and say I'm not sick and I
  • can come into work, if they need anyone. The person on the phone laughed the first time, then called me back to ask if I was serious and asked when I could get there to fill in.
  • Keep in mind, that not everyone in the company likes cutting hours. They also hate being complained to, by employees, about wanting more hours. Yet, people still call out sick all the time. Usually one
  • manager has the job of taking the calls, then re- adjusting the schedule and trying to call people into work. You'd be surprised how many people say no, when offered more hours than they are scheduled.
  • So, what you are doing, if you do this, is making one of your bosses' lives easier. You don't even know how much less stress it is for them. This is also probably the person who decides how many hours you get. So when store hours increase, they will be thinking of you.

  • Beth_Duttonn I'd look for another job. I once was lied to in an interview that my training would be at our corporate office in Italy. And I'd be required to go there for 2 weeks 2 a year for corporate meetings.

  • someone else they were interviewing same day. Italy was literally the final factor of my decision to leave my otherwise very comfortable, well paying well established job. I walked out.

  • person, and no one ever told me that I'm on a "trial" run until a month later when the manager called in to her office, told me what was going on, and told me that I'm fired. I'm sorry to hear about your situation though.
