Woman gets roasted for having male guest to her apartment, criticizing him for complimenting her furnishings: 'Dudes need a mommy to take care of them their whole lives'

I have long reviled the commonly uttered sentence "it's not that deep". It is the kind of thing that people say when somebody else says something that comes dangerously close to the kind of critical thinking that might make them question things that they don't want to question, and besides, almost everything is deep in one way or another if you know how to look at it.

However, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to revise this phrase to say something along the lines of hey, maybe there is more to this, but perhaps we need to have a sense of perspective before expressing it, y'know? No matter how aware or educated we like to think of ourselves as being, we are all also highly influenced by personal experiences and viewpoints that mean not every thought we have is going to be the most groundbreaking or even necessary to express to the world.

This didn't get the reception she might have hoped for, with most people questioning what the big deal was. It's not like she has to find out whether he sleeps on a bed with a bedframe or not.
