Conviction is an important quality to have and it is one that in the right context that can help you be successful, especially in this era of irony poisoning and aggressive brand management. Being somebody who sticks to their guns can have its downsides, but if you do it with the right amount of personality it can often prove to work to your advantage. Memes are a good example of this, because the main way in which they succeed is by making whatever point they may want to make in an emphatic way. They don't have a lot of space or time to get their message across, so it is a necessity and their audience is glad of that. We are here to waste time, but not to waste our time. It's all about making that humor as direct as possible, even when it is full of references and other things.
