'Mum wants a $1k a month allowance': Mom of 6 requests 23-year-old college student daughter give her money for designer clothing and fast food

Would you give your parents an allowance if they requested it? It's an odd request, to be sure. It's one thing to ask for a few dollars here and there when your parent is in a bind. But demanding that your working-age child give you a monthly stipend just because is just a little odd. 

When parents give their children an allowance, it helps the kid to learn the value of money. Unlike play money, if you lose a real $10 bill, it's gone forever. If you spend it on food, your cash is gone as quickly as that meal you just ate. If you spend your money unwisely on some random product, you may not be able to get that money back. It's a good way to teach kids these things, using just a few dollars each week to instruct them. 

That's why it's pretty baffling that this mother of 6 is requesting a "stipend" from her 23-year-old daughter. She wants the staggering amount of $1000 per month! She even had the audacity to tell her daughter that it's only about $30 per day, as if that isn't the cost of a whole grocery trip. This Mom is demanding a lot of money, but it's as if she doesn't even realize the value of it to begin with.
