'She was made to be a momma even though she's fixed': Person rescues freezing kitten, and the tiny feline immediately gets adopted by their house cat who takes her in as if she's her own

Some cats are simply meant to be mommas. Even fixing them will not remove that instinct, not entirely. And the Cat Distribution System knows this. It knows that spaying cats is the right thing to do for their own health and safety, but it also knows how to provide kittens for all the cats who need them. It's the only thing that explains stories like these - and specifically the fact that they keep happening. 

We have seen cats adopt kittens from other litters. We have seen cat mommas adopt orphaned kittens after tragically losing their own biological ones. We have even seen a regular cat adopt a lynx kitten and raise her as if she is her own despite the fact that she is so much bigger than her. And here, we have another story just like these ones. It may have been the humans who rescued this kitten from freezing initially, but the one who adopted it into the family was not the human, it was the cat.

    deerchortle OP Found this sweet baby in the parking lot just before a big blizzard. Looked everywhere for her momma or siblings, didn't find them. Boba has now officially adopted the 6-ish week old Mochi! Cleared health by the vet and already in her new forever home ♡

  • Sometimes, it really is just meant to be. You would not have been able to pry this kitten away from its adoptive momma even if you wanted to. It doesn't matter that you adopted the itty bitty thing. She adopted it harder. This is her kitten now.

  • We just know, from experience, from writing about cats for so long, from all of the stories that we have seen and heard, that these two are going to be a bonded pair for a lifetime. They are soulmates, and they are never allowed to be separated.
