Man bankrolls the annual family beach vacation, then his mother-in-law insists on inviting her own friends to avoid spending time with her daughter: ‘This is a family trip, let's keep it that way’

If you pay for a family vacation, you have the final say on the guest list. But this mother-in-law, year after year, decidedly pushed the flexibility of her son-in-law's generosity until it finally broke. 

Snapping on your family members never feels good. Typically when tensions rise to the level where something stern needs to be said or boundaries need to be placed, family drama has boiled over to a maximum. While I've suffered my fair share of family disputes, none take the cake quite like the time my sister refused to go on our family vacation. As a teenager, moody and brooding, she seemed to grow more powerful when she guilt-tripped our parents. Once, when we were fully packed and ready for a road trip to the lake, she plopped down on the front step and dug her heels in, demanding she be allowed to invite her friends to our family vacation. 

Well, Sis, it wouldn't be called a 'family vacation' if a whole hoard of your buddies were invited, would it? Keep scrolling for a mother-in-law who had the same audacity, derailing her daughter and son-in-law's generous vacation by being selfish.

Happily along for the ride, you'd think that most parents would be thrilled to spend the weekend with their adult children, however, this MIL would rather spend her beach days with friends she saw all the time.
