Cowardly managers ghost an employee instead of firing him, then the ex-ice rink worker gets payback by pillaging break room meals: ‘I bring a tupperware and steal as much food as I can’

Getting ghosted by an employer is the worst way to get 'fired,' but this ex-employee at the mall's ice rink wasn't about to let a managerial ghosting cut off his food supply. 

When you're fired, you have closure. Like a breakup, closure is critical to move on in your life, both emotionally and mentally. So if you're still under the impression that you're employed by a company, how are you supposed to print out your resume and campus the rest of the town for a new job? Managers utilize this tactic to keep good employees on the hook, absolving themselves of unemployment fees and saving themselves from the discomfort of actually firing someone. 

Alas, this college kid was too hungry to let the absence of a paycheck deter him from going to work, pillaging the break room fridge, and making management sorry they ever quiet-fired him.

When you're backed into a corner, the fridge is empty, and your manager stopped scheduling you, it's hard not to taste the deliciousness of cold pizza going to waste in the break room fridge at your old job.     I used to work at a small ice rink as a zamboni driver. I'm a broke college kid and a few of the other employees were broke college kids, so they often had pizza, hot dogs, ramen and things of that

  • am flabbergasted I did not go to the food bank when I was in college. I thought food banks were for truly "needy" people, not realizing I was the one in need. It would have made college a lot easier.
