For the longest time, I was adamantly opposed to wearing makeup. That was probably for the best as a preteen, but I just thought that I was sticking it to the patriarchy by choosing face the world each day with my bare face. Eventually, I realized that wearing makeup and dressing cute is just plain fun. Putting effort into your appearance can give you a confidence boost, and there is even evidence to suggest that dressing well for work can help you feel more productive and attentive. No wonder I was so inattentive in high school – I was always in my pijamas!

Some people don't feel put-together until they're wearing a full face of makeup; others just need a single coat of mascara and some sunscreen but love to coordinate a full outfit with accessories before they leave the house.
