Joining a gym is like moving into a new apartment. You do a little tour, decide if it's what you're looking for, and then commit to being there for a lot of time. You hope the showers are nice. You hope the facilities are up to code, and you hope that there aren't too many noisy neighbors (AKA meatheads who drop their barbells with reckless abandon). 

Then you hope that you've made a good investment. Gyms aren't cheap, after all. They're a pretty big comittment. This is part of the reason that gets you up and out of bed, though. To make good on your investment. You would hate for all that hard-earned cash to go to waste. So you wake up at 5, put on your sneakers, and make it happen, whether you like it or not.

  • This isn’t the reality of every day, though. Sometimes the juice is simply not in the tank and you need a little extra push to get your sweat on. There are lots of ways to motivate. You could call up a buddy to go with you, thus forcing you into a social contract. You could pre-order a smoothie to pick up after your gym session (there’s nothing like food motivation). Or you could look at memes to inspire you. Today, we’ve got smoothies. I mean memes. Whoops!
