Sometimes unexpected things happen without explanation, and there is not much you can do about it, especially when it comes to relationships with other people. 

You can have a great relationship with a friend, a family member, or a romantic partner, but if they one day decide they are not interested in keeping up with that connection, well, there is nothing you can do to stop them from ending it. If the other side is not interested, it is their right, but it does mean that you might be left with a big hole in your heart and without a lot of closure.

What you can do, however, is decide how your life looks without them. You can keep pinning for them, and mourn the loss of that relationship, or you can move on and open yourself up to new people. It is all up to you, and no one can take that away from you.

Which is what the mom in the story below decided to do.
