16-year-old tells 14-year-old half-sister she's not allowed to spend time with her father when he visits after she insists on tagging along on their outings: 'My dad isn't her dad and that she's got her own'

As a teen, currying favor with an absent parent really is one of the hardest things. Throw an over-eager younger half-sister and your can't-be-bothered mother and stepfather into the mix, and you've concocted a nightmare scenario. It's like the emotional version of a pressure cooker and leaves you on the verge of boiling over. 

These blended family dynamics are difficult enough as it is, even when everyone involved, and especially all the adults in the room, have the best intentions. But when the adults are dragging the chain and refusing to step in when they need to, or themselves aren't understanding the situation in a rational and fair way.

Surely, when this 16-year-old was dreaming of finally getting time with her father, her 14-year-old half sister wasn't involved. Yet, she found herself constantly having to deal with her tag-along sister anytime she had plans with her dad. The fact that the teen's account of events culminates with her asking her father to stop paying visits to her at all, supposedly because of her younger sister, raises some eyebrows and definitely seems like a teenage reaction. (If there's not something else going on.)
