We love to witness the collapse of a marriage, the shock of infidelity, or the defiance of a child to their parents. We're amused by so much of the petty day-to-day interactions because most of us have mundane lives, and like to live vicariously through the drama of others. Why do you think reality shows are so popular? There's always something to gasp at, and talk about the ridiculousness of it all.

Children can be so defiant. It's not their fault, they don't know any better, and their frontal cortex is underdeveloped. They think the world revolves around them, and in a way it does. They can't fend for themselves, so in that sense everyone does surround them and take care of them.

In the story below, the protagonist is a man who made pancakes for his nieces and nephews. They all agreed on chocolate chip pancakes, but then the confusion comes along. The youngest tantrums that he didn't actually want chocolate chip pancakes, but the uncle refuses to remake a plain batch.

Like many of the comments are saying, why could the father just make something for his son? Why did it have to be the uncle specifically, right after he just slaved away cooking a bunch of pancakes for his nieces and nephews? The 6-year-old isn't at fault, but the uncle is being a little stubborn.
