Welcome back ladies and gentlemen of the internet. When you're in a relationship with someone, you're not just dating them as an individual. You're also sort of dating their whole family, or at least the family they're close with. When it's holidays, weekends, or someone's birthday, it's not uncommon that you'll be immersed in their family dynamic, so it's important not only to get along with them, but to feel like they're decent people. Not everyone is blessed with good roots that they came from, and no one can control who they're related to. The only thing you can control is your interactions with them, and your closeness. 

And we all know that with any relationship dynamic, boundaries are a huge part of maintaining healthy distances, and respect for one another. When you're in love, it can be facile to think that you don't need boundaries in the relationship. You may feel like you want to live and breathe that person. 

In the story below, the protagonist is a man whose girlfriend has keys to his apartment, but there's a tacit understanding that they communicate with each other when they're going to the other's apartment. He comes home to find that she hasn't upheld their agreement.

I couldn't imagine the shock and horror at arriving home to children screaming in my apartment. He's being absolutely gaslit, and he should break up before it's too late.

    I was supposed to be away 700km from home for 2 weeks for work related stuff, but 4 days in and our instructor got into an accident. Work tried to find another one, but no such luck on very short notice.

    I admit I blew up on him and the sis who left my bedroom in the meantime. Told them to leave immediately. They argued quite a bit, my gf called her sis, then sis put up the speaker so we could all hear, and she said I was embarrassing her, that she told them they could use my place for a while.
