'This cat truly has 0 interest in me': Feline pawrent opens up about her expensive Maine Coon not liking her even after raising them for 13 years from kitten to beautiful bratty baby

Cats are fickle creatures. One second, they love you, and the next second, they wouldn't touch you with a 30-foot feather toy. Some cats love everyone, some only love their owners, and apparently, some love everyone except their owners. No one knows why (unless one of you out there is fluent in cat and not telling us), but we do know that once a cat makes up their mind, it's pawsitively challenging to change it. Especially Maine Coons, who are not only meowgically majestic, but also known for being purrfectly opinionated.

That's why we feeline for the pawrent in the post below. She claims that even after raising her Maine Coon for 13 years, the cat still doesn't like her. In fact, the cat always chooses another roommate or friend to bond with and purractically ignores her hooman mom. We've had aloof cats before, but never to this level before.     In short, me and my household got a Maine Coon 13 years ago. Due to unexpected circumstances I became the sole owner of the Maine Coon and we've had to relocate households a total of 2 times since the first one. I love Missy

    to pieces and she's truly the kindest cat I've ever met. However, in every household she's always had a selection of people she's completely glued to. I've never been one of these people despite being solely in charge of feeding, playing and box cleaning.

  • That sounds very uncomfortable. Of course, we would do it to make sure our baby is okay, but asking a roommate to check on your cat for you? That sounds tough. We would also be upset.

    I've essentially grown up with cats and have learned to read and adapt to them. Any cat | encounter usually take a great liking to me, hence why we got a Maine Coon in the first place... But this cat truly has O interest in me. Never strokes against me

    CarryOk3080 · 16h ago We got my husband a maine coon kitten when his ex wife stole his 2 previous ones. She is 3 now and can't stand my husband. She is my cat through and through. You can't force a cat to like you, unfortunately. She may associate you with moving pain or the loss of her previous person. Not much you can do about it.

  • We also consider ourselves quite fluent in cat. We can always convince stray cats to let us pet them. But that makes the times when we don't succeed even worse. Why have our cat communication powers failed us??

    is super weird :/. 13 years is a long time with an animal, especially one who has shared so many transitional times with you. All that said, I am happy to hear you are still taking great care of her, despite the attitude she is giving you. Good luck, keep on loving that spiteful brat!

    guy. Had no interest in another animal because of how poorly I handled my dog passing. They brought the cat home she immediately took to me and we've been inseparable since. Shes very dismissive of my sister and my sister has kind of just accepted it.
