'[Do you] have one with more storage?': 23-year-old immediately regrets giving her old iPad to her friend's 12-year-old sister after getting accosted for upgrades without as much as a ‘thank you’

Having an iPad used to be the ultimate sign of frivolity and wealth. It had some of the capabilities of a phone and some of the capabilities of a computer, but was ultimately rather useless unless you really liked playing Candy Crush on the big screen. Nowadays, iPads can do a lot more, and the apps have gotten better, but the entitlement surrounding the world's most expensive pad of paper remains. 

This woman wasn't using her iPad anymore and decided that she could pass it along to a friend's little sister as a gift. However, the gift immediately turned sour when the ungrateful 12-year-old started making demands on her ultimate displeasure with her sister's friend's generosity. Perhaps she didn't deserve the gift after all, because a free $1000 screen wasn't enough for her…

  • When an adult sees promising potential in a youngster, it's hard to resist bolstering their talents with a lavish gift. Personally, I find great pleasure in encouraging kids to pursue their passion, but there's a point where bending over backwards and giving a kid everything they want becomes enabling.  And in this case, generosity was enabling the growth of entitlement, not digital drawing skills.
