There's nothing quite like a parental visit to remind you that, no matter how many mortgages you pay or how many living creatures you wrangle under one roof, your childhood home's ancient Law & Order reruns have permanently warped Dad's sense of jurisdiction. Fast-forward to present day: your house, your chaos, your carefully orchestrated three-cat, four-dog, four-human circus. Mom's conference brings her conveniently to your city, where—shockingly—she prefers the zoo vibe of your place over her sterile, taxpayer-funded hotel suite. Everyone eats well, fur flies, and cocktails flow. Mom is delighted.

Meanwhile, Dad has decided that his role as guest comes with a side gig: Head of Social Engineering. With all the authority of someone who neither lives there nor foots the grocery bill, he delivers an advance warning that the next household gathering better resemble a silent retreat for hermits. After all, nothing says "hospitality" like guest-imposed curfews and a bouncer at the door checking fur levels.
