Garage dad documents baby birds hatching, one begins to follow him around showing the beautiful connection between humans and nature

The dads who protest the loudest against adopting animals are always the biggest softies. It's a tale as old as time, a song as old as rhyme: Dad says he "does not want more pets", then is presented with a baby animal, and then falls hopelessly in love with them. Well, usually it happens with a seriously fluffy kitten, or a wiggle-worm puppy that won't stop licking his face, but in today's story, it's about two lonely robin eggs that were hatching in his garage. 

He left a ladder near their nest and checked on them daily. He watched them every day until the day they could fly. You know what pawsitively magical thing happened next? One of the robins started following him around all summer. Just by checking on them daily, he made a connection with these baby birds. It shows that hoomans and animals can live in harmony, as long as we pay each other the respect we deserve. It's not hard, as long as we learn to listen.

  • We're not the first people to shout from the rooftops how cute baby birds are. They look like hairless cats before they grow feathers. But to them, hoomans must look like big, hairless monkeys also! And this big, hairless monkey looked after them until they were big enough to leave the nest, and they paid him back with friendship.

    found a nest in a knothole with a couple of eggs in it. Magical! We also had a robin's nest in the star magnolia in the front yard. I now live in an area that doesn't have a lot of small birds and I miss them.
