'Tiara was surrendered with her 3 house siblings': Shy senior cat finds comfort with a furever family after weeks of hiding in animal shelter

I work at an Adoption Center and Tiara was surrendered with her 3 house siblings (all of them being seniors) It was a heartbreaking goodbye for the owner. They are seniors themselves, were moving to a different state, & moving to anywhere by vehicle from where I live includes a long quarentine and costly pet certificates. They felt that at their age and the cat(s) being seniors it would be too stressful.

Tiara took it hard and hid under her bed for the first 2 weeks, barely touching her food. One night after closing, I opened her kennel door and just sat there. A while later she popped her head out and let me pet her. Then the next day she explored the cat room.

A few days later a wonderful family came in looking to adopt a senior cat. I introduced them to Tiara's sibling and it wasn't a match. Then to my surprise Tiara popped her head out from under her bed & they asked to meet her.

Tiara purred and rubbed her head against the youngest child. It was such a wonderful sight! I love all of the cats at the Adoption Center but Tiara has a very special place in my heart.

mkt0212 I respect you so much for the work that you do. The love that workers like you provide to these pets and animals never ceases to amaze me. They are unconditional creatures and they just need unconditional love and support back. Thanks for sharing Tiara's story with us. She's very special indeed.

reluctant_deity I love when cats instantly bond with children. Literally one of my favourite things in the world.

Shferitz I hope her siblings also find homes and don't miss her too much.

Ok-Celebration-2... She's beautiful! I feel terrible for the original owners but I'm really glad Tiara found a new forever home with a loving family. Such a pretty kitty too.

Sharqua You might consider letting her old family know that she has found herself some new hearts to love on. Such a gorgeous girl!

antilumin A while back I had to do community service and opted to help at the local ASPCA. Mostly mopping floors, doing laundry, etc. One day I was cleaning in the cat area and went down a short unused hallway and found a kennel with a 15 year old cat just laying there.

Everyone ignored her, but when I went up to her she immediately jumped up and started purring, desperate for attention. It broke my heart that I couldn't take her home, and stuck in that hallway most people probably never saw her.

the_morbid_angel Lynx Point Siamese are the best. They are so sensitive and they "pick" their person but they are all around loving, gentle, talkative, and sweet.
