Listen, I'm not a Gen X'er, but can't I still appreciate and laugh along to the few jokes I understand from these memes? Being Gen X means you sort of had it all. You grew up in a booming economy which made it easy and possible to start a family, life, and buy a house. You grew up when there was some technology, but not nearly enough to change society drastically and negatively. Dating and relationships were still straightforward, but you also grew up without the same rigid rules of dating or life, where you could kind of get creative and think outside the box. You had some pretty awesome music, and you probably grew up with nascent sci-fi films that shook the very world in which you knew. 

Gen X really is a spoiled generation. You had everything without the strictness of generations passed. And unlike generations after it, you had financial dependency, without the existential dread that millennials and beyond share. So enjoy these Gen X memes.
