"Woman cut hundreds in airport security line"

A woman bowed under a rope and stepped in front of me about halfway through a 45 minute security line at the airport. I was a little confused so I asked her "did you just cut me?" She confirmed that yes, she had meant to cut the line. She said "I'm in a hurry" which is dumb because we all are.

I asked her what was so important, which is when she said the most irritating thing: "I don't need to explain myself to you. Try walking a mile in someone's shoes."

...? I had a bad day but, unlike you, bothered to plan ahead. We are all in a rush and you have no idea how anyone else's day was. I asked her why she would disrespect all the people behind her and told her multiple times to go to the back of the line. We were in the middle of a bunch of people in windy rows so calling security would have been a huge hassle but I almost wish I had

done it. I ended up just passing her and encouraging people behind me to do the same. I had to hold back so strong not to call her garbage. What the h I is wrong with you? Either I have to call security, which wastes. people time, or I have to let you stay in line and, again, waste people's time. It's a lose-lose deal for everyone except her.

It seems like a small thing but it's a tiny microcosm of everything that is irritating about society. "I deserve my time more than you and I don't even have to understand why" Well, lady You're trash I hope you missed your flight and it was an important one

Edit: to people saying I should have called security. It would have been an even bigger disturbance to pull the ID checker away from their job and walk around to track her down. Trust me if there had been a TSA guy within sight when she cut I would have said something but I'm pretty sure it would have been a waste of time to get security.

That's my issue with the situation: she wasted everyone's time and the only way to solve it would have been to waste more time. I think stepping by her was the most effective and efficient option. I'm happy with my solution I'm just unhappy with the situation. Cheers.

vegetable-willpower How are you supposed to walk a mile in someone's shoes if they refuse to tell you anything about their situation? What?

dut... I love being the server in these situations. I hate queue jumpers and I always keep an eye out if I'm serving a line of people. If i spot one, I generally don't say anything but remember where they should've been in the line. When they get to the front I just flat out ignore them until I reach where they should've been in the

line. (If they do say something I just respond along the lines of "These people were here before you, I'll get to you when it's your turn" and go back to ignoring). It's way more satisfying than just telling them to go to the back. They think they've gotten away with it just to sit there in front of everyone and stew in the awkwardness and the frustration haha

SomeCrazed Biker My wife has, on more than one occasion, loudly shamed people for bad behavior in an airport. I love it.

soulpulp You'd hate living on an island, then. The ferry takes line cutters very seriously, but that doesn't stop them from trying. Not to mention that the number of boats has decreased since co id, so it's often an hour's wait for the next ferry.

The worst part is they don't even live on the island, since the islanders respect the line. Why would a tourist be in more of a rush to get to their vacation than I am to get home?

Def... I had someone literally pretend to be me and take my table. I walked up and showed my ID and the hostess was so shocked.
  • 18
Edit: Weirdly, they got away with it because the woman was so obnoxious, they just gave me a different table. She pretended she misheard. That isn't probable considering my name. I have an unusual name. I've been in the same room with someone with my name, knowingly, 1 time in my (over) 50 years. The restaurant was nice to us. I would love to know if they ever said much to her.
