A 19-year-old took to Reddit to share his tale of woe: his old boss retired from the swimming pool where he worked, and now the whole place is falling apart. His old boss was a sweet, lovely person, and she was the sole reason the facility was still functioning.
Now that she's gone, all the managers are the same age as him, leaving him dumbfounded.
‘I'm 19. My frontal lobe isn't fully developed either. That's exactly why I'm confused about how people my age ended up running an entire pool facility."
It'd be one thing if these were competent, professional employees who just happened to be young, but that's the furthest thing from the truth. They leave their employees on read when they ask for a shift off, which proves that they can't even handle the basics of managing. They can't even respond and say "no."
The 19-year-old employee doesn't trust any of the decisions his managers make, because they're dumb kids!
“One of the managers makes around $50k a year, lives at home, pays no rent, and recently admitted he doesn't even have $1,000 in savings. Somehow that's the guy making management decisions.”
The managers are constantly playing favorites with shifts, giving their friends the best shifts instead of creating a fair schedule for everyone. They refuse to participate in the cleaning duties that all other employees have to do. Instead, they hang out in the office while their inferiors do all of the grunt work. They didn't even want to clean the pool after a toddler had a BM in it. Their reasoning for this? Another toddler had already had a BM in the pool earlier that day, so it was already dirty.
How would you deal with a workplace full of incompetent, immature teenagers? Is there anything you can do to improve your circumstances?
