The employee in this story got a new job offer that was just perfect for her. The role suited her better, and she was ready to jump ship. She told her manager, who tried to convince her to stay with her current company, but her mind was already made up, and she put in her two-week notice.

Her manager made an odd request after she gave her two weeks' notice.

“She asked me if I could stay with them for about 3 months to help with the handoff and training. I feel like that's a very long time. They've treated me well, but I don't feel like I'm obligated to put my next job on hold for them.”

She admitted that her departure might be kind of annoying for the coworkers she's leaving behind, but nothing that they couldn't handle. She could hypothetically ask her new company to move her start date back, but she really doesn't want to.

What would you do if you were in her shoes? Would you try to ask your new company for extra time?
