It's always important to remember your own autonomy in a job interview. We are socialized to think that when you're applying for a job, you are at the mercy of your hiring manager. However, what happens if you can immediately sense that something is off? What happens if you almost instinctively know that the interviewer would be an absolute nightmare to work with if you were to accept the position? What happens if you feel that your experience is being questioned, or even that your values may be compromised if you were to take this job?

Again, we must not forget our own agency in these situations. Sure, you're the one who is applying for the job, so naturally, there's a slight imbalance in this dynamic. Still, just being there is an inherent idea of how job candidates are supposed to behave in interviews; if you're being disrespected, you can always walk away. Too many interviews are totally one sided power trips and candidates are treated like circus animals who are expected to jump through the flaming hoops with a polite smile and thank you afterwards...

    first 4 months untill i trained a 2ic. I asked her about the ad posted saying no nights and weekends she replied saying that was before I saw your resume. I politely stood up said i wasnt interested, she then backtracked, but by that point i didnt trust her because the money didnt reflect her expectations.
